    A former mayor of Worcester is due to appear at Shrewsbury Crown Court today charged with causing the death of his wife in a car crash last year.

    Aubrey Tarbuck, 88, from Hallow, also faces two charges of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

    Anne Tarbuck died when their car was involved in a crash with another one on the A458 near to The Plume Of Feathers Pub at Harley, in Shropshire, in October 2017.

    A young girl in the other car was taken to hospital suffering head and chest injuries, while the driver of that vehicle was also hurt.

    Farmers with machinery were called on to help fire crews tackle a large grass fire at Burleydam, Whitchurch, close to the Cheshire/Shropshire border yesterday.

    About 20 firefighters, with limited water supplies, used beaters to deal with the "rapidly spreading" fire, said Cheshire Fire Service, after being called to the site at 16:20.

  3. Fire crews tackle large barn firepublished at 07:21 British Summer Time 16 July 2018

    Fire crews in Shropshire have been dealing with a barn fire in the Wellington area overnight.

    Shropshire Fire & Rescue Service said crews prevented fire spreading to nearby buildings and equipment after being called to Rushton, near the Wrekin.

    Crews also dealt with grass and hedge fires in Lilleshall and Stirchley.
