    Elsewhere in Shrewsbury, The Frankwell Main and Riverside and St Julian’s car parks have been closed due to a risk of flooding.

    Flood barriers have been put up in Shrewsbury and Ironbridge, and the Environment Agency's Marc Lidderth said staff were closely monitoring rising river levels.

    "All our temporary barriers across Shropshire are all up in place and we are having to start at making some further decisions on deploying the additional phases that we call to raise those levels of barriers," he said.

    Several people have been rescued from vehicles overnight after getting stuck in flood water in Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

    Train services are still being disrupted this morning even with railway lines reopening after flooding.

    All lines are open between Stoke-on-Trent and Lichfield Trent Valley/Stafford but trains are running at a slower speed, National Rail Enquiries says., external

    Operator East Midlands Railway says its trains cannot run between Crewe and Stoke-on-Trent.

    London Northwestern Railway says buses are running between Stafford and Stoke-on-Trent, and between Stoke-on-Trent and Crewe.

    Shropshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Staffordshire have had pockets of flooding overnight which in some cases have seen people rescued from vehicles.

    Flood warnings are in place for the counties.

    River levels are expected to peak in the region later on Thursday, the Environment Agency says.

    Fire crews were called to the site in Woore on Wednesday evening and said it was surrounded by flood water which was 3ft (0.91m) deep in places. , external

    Dozens of flood warnings are in place in the West Midlands today , externalwith river levels rising after heavy rain.

    Fourteen are in Staffordshire, 10 in Herefordshire, eight in Shropshire and six in Worcestershire.

    The Environment Agency says it expects river levels in most cases to peak later on Thursday.
