  6. 'Human error' caused Alton Towers crashpublished at 13:18

    A rollercoaster crash at Alton Towers which left a teenager from South Yorkshire needing her leg amputating, was caused by human error, the them park has said.

    Seventeen-year-old Leah Washington, from Barnsley, was on the front row of the Smiler ride, when it crashed into an empty carriage in front of it last June. Her boyfriend Joe Pugh was also injured

    An investigation by the theme park's owner found the crash was caused by human error and when the ride re-opens next year there will be better training for employees.

  7. Flights from Robin Hood Airport to Egypt cancelledpublished at 13:09

    Thomson Airways, which operate out of Doncaster's Robin Hood Airport, says as a result of Foreign and Commonwealth Office advice, it's cancelled further outbound flights from the UK to Sharm el-Sheikh, up to and including Wednesday 9 December.

    It says all customers booked to travel to Sharm el-Sheikh in this period will be provided with a full refund or can amend to any holiday currently on sale. 

    Other airlines have also cancelled flights.

  11. Disruptions to bin collections in S11published at 12:12

    Because of ongoing police investigations into the body that has been found in the Porter Brook river, bin crews are not able to make planned collections in the Pomona Street, Napier Street and Summerfield Road areas until further notice.

    Veolia has asked residents to leave out their bins if they haven’t been collected today, so that crews can collect them as soon as possible.

  17. Caroline Everest: Students' union 'deeply saddened'published at 10:35

    A body, believed to be Caroline Everest, was found in the Porter Brook close to Ecclesall Road in Sheffield early this morning.

    The 18-year- old was studying Biosciences and Chemistry at Sheffield Hallam University.

    Students' union president Dapo Adaramewa said he was "deeply saddened to hear of a student going missing and our thoughts are with her family at this time".
