You may have read a lot about the fly-past in Sheffield today and the crew of the Mi Amigo plane, but do you know about the man behind the fly-past?

Tony Foulds was eight-years-old when he saw the US B-17 bomber crash in 1944.

He was playing in the park with friends when he saw the plane come down in the woods.

He said he felt responsible because the plane was trying to avoid crashing into him and his friends.

He's regularly cared for the memorial since it was built in the 1960s and when BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker met him, he was inspired to mark the anniversary in style:

We're expecting a mix of both US and UK aircraft, including an F-15E fighter jet, Typhoons, Ospreys and a Dakota.

It's thought they will fly over in a staggered formation because of airspace restrictions, so hopefully it won't be a "blink-and-you'll-miss-it" moment.

Flying from the south east, they're going to be following the red line above.

The main action will happen over Endcliffe Park near the city centre at 08:45.

Potential viewers are asked to arrive using public transport or on foot by 07:15 as it's expected to be very busy, but we'll keep you updated on events here and hope to bring you a live video feed too.

There is no car parking near the park, so if you haven't already arrived, you might be out of luck.

The council also recommends vantage points like Bolehills Park, Park Hill flats, Skye Edge playing fields and the Botanical Gardens.
