    A woman from Crewe who's been jailed for more than three years , externalhas been described by police as someone who "systematically targeted vulnerable elderly people".

    Tracey Skeldon, 50, originally of Halton Drive, admitted nine counts of burglary at Chester Crown Court and was jailed for a total of three years and four months. 

    Cheshire Police say she targeted her victims using knowledge she had got through her work as a responder for a local company.

    A flood warning has been issued by the Environment Agency for the Barton-under-Needwood area, external of Staffordshire.

    They say river levels on the River Trent at Catton and Branston Water Park are rising and their warning means flooding is expected.

    The Environment Agency's also issued flood alerts, external - meaning flooding is possible - for the Rivers Sow and Penk near Stafford, the Lower Tame in Elford and the River Trent in Burton.

    Cheshire's Olympic bronze medal-winning gymnast Beth Tweddle has "moved her hands and feet" after undergoing surgery to fuse fractured vertebrae in her neck.

    Tweddle had a piece of bone taken from her hip as part of an operation after she was injured in a fall while training for Channel 4 show The Jump.

    The 30-year-old from Bunbury has quit the show and described the last 48 hours as "scary".

    There's a battle brewing over what flag should be used to represent Staffordshire.

    The county council's applied for its banner, featuring a lion, to be recognised as an official standard. 

    But a heritage group has started a separate petition, external for the emblem to just feature a simple Stafford knot. 

    The authority says its flag has been in use for several years, external and is recognisable across the county.

    Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland says "words will be spoken in the dressing room" to reverse their run of one win in six Premier League games.

    The Potters have exited both the League Cup and FA Cup within the last fortnight, and slipped to 11th in the table. 

    Butland says the players need to be honest with each other about what's gone wrong.

    A man from Hungary's died after being hit by a car, external in Stoke-on-Trent.

    Staffordshire Police were called to the crash on Saturday night on the service road to Aldi and McDonald's on Victoria Road, Fenton. 

    A silver Ford Ka had hit Gyorgy Bator, 51, a Hungarian national - he suffered serious injuries, was taken to hospital but died later that night.
