    Operations at hospitals across the Midlands are expected to be cancelled as the third junior doctors' strike is taking place over 48 hours

    The action last month resulted in the cancellation of 50 operations and at least 150 other procedures, while 1,400 appointments were postponed.

    The doctors are protesting against proposals for a new contract that makes changes to working hours and pay. Two more strikes are planned next month.
