    Lyn Turner, external was among many who said: "RIP Paul Daniels. Condolences to your family."

    While Anna Machnik added: "Such sad news, may he rest in peace. Grew up watching him on TV".

    Keele University has been rated one of the best in the UK for student experience.

    The institution was 10th in the Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey, which gets the views of 15,000 full-time students.

    Times Higher Education says the survey, now in its 11th year, looks beyond the usual definition of the student experience, which focuses on teaching and learning, to give a wider picture reflecting "those aspects of university life that matter most to them".

    A charity worker who supports homeless people in Stoke-on-Trent says an eviction of a group sleeping in a bike shelter yesterday was "heavy handed".

    The site on Old Hall Street had been filled with tents for several weeks, but yesterday afternoon officers from Staffordshire Police, external, working with the city council, external, evicted those inside. 

    The authorities say they acted in response to concerns from local businesses.
