    A weather warning for thunderstorms across the West Midlands, external is in force from 17:00.

    The Met Office says while most places will miss the worst, it's warning of localised flash flooding, lightning, hail and strong winds.

  6. Eight sentenced after fraud scam in Warwickshire and Staffordshirepublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 19 July 2016

    Eight people have been sentenced, external after victims were conned out of more than £31,000 in a fraud scam say police.

    The men were sentenced at Warwick Crown Court after committing 64 offences in  Warwickshire and 17 in Staffordshire between October 2014 and January 2015.

    Victims receive phone calls informing them their bank card has been used fraudulently and they are tricked into handing over their details.  

    Police say the seven men and one 16-year-old boy targeted the elderly and vulnerable and the fraud had a "devastating" impact on the victims.

    A former UKIP MEP for the West Midlands says she hasn't worked since losing her seat two years ago because she was accused of expenses fraud.

    Temperatures across the West Midlands are expected to soar to 33C (91F) today, prompting warnings from health bodies urging people to take care in the sun.

    Our colleagues at BBC News have come up with a little tool on the BBC website which allows you to see how the temperature where you are compares with more than 50 cities around the world.

    So currently Stoke-on-Trent, with a high of 26C, is as hot as New York and Bejing - but some way behind Madrid with 35C.

    A new £3m unit to care for people who've had orthopaedic surgery , externalhas opened today at Stafford's County Hospital.

    The University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust says it has 29 beds and a dedicated therapy area - which, they claim, is a first for the site.

    Three other wards are due to open at County Hospital in the next 18 months with a refurbishment of A&E due to be completed by the end of this year.

    A Stafford bride-to-be says she's really disappointed she found out her wedding venue had closed on social media rather than from the business itself.

    Jamie McClaren told BBC Radio Stoke she was planning to get married in November at the Post House in Stafford, which has gone into voluntary liquidation. 

    A statement on the venue's Facebook page, external says customers seeking refunds for recent bookings should contact the administrators.
