    Marks and Spencer is to close its high street store in Crewe, it's emerged.

    The retailer, which has been in Crewe since 1932, says it will extend its store on the Grand Junction Retail Park, instead.

    A spokesperson told BBC Radio Stoke that the new, bigger store will offer not only a home and clothing range but also a food department and café. 

    The firm said that the closure will take place sometime next year.

  12. Bid to ban prescriptions for coughs and coldspublished at 10:48 British Summer Time 14 July 2016

    Health bosses in Cheshire want to stop prescribing medication for coughs, colds and headaches. 

    The Eastern Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) - which pays for healthcare in part of Cheshire - want people to buy the medication over the counter instead.

    It says it would save an estimated £500,000 a year and give every GP in the area approximately an extra hour a day to see patients. 

    The CCG is now developing plans to consult the public on the draft policy.

    The One Smithfield building in Hanley has been nominated in a competition to find the worst new building in Britain. 

    Building Design Magazine, which runs the Carbuncle Cup, says the glass building, home to Stoke-on-Trent City Council resembles a Rubik's Cube.

    The winner will be announced in September.

  18. Coach firm goes out of businesspublished at 09:09 British Summer Time 14 July 2016

    The bus company GHA Coaches has ceased trading, putting some 400 jobs at risk including many in Shropshire.

    Until yesterday, GHA ran a fleet of about 230 vehicles on routes across north Wales, Cheshire and Shropshire.

    Drivers have reportedly had a text message telling them to attend a meeting today where they expect to be told they're now unemployed.

    Other companies are likely to step in to fill the gaps in service.
