  2. Football: Macclesfield Town sign former Guiseley midfielderpublished at 09:50 British Summer Time 27 July 2016

    National League side Macclesfield Town have signed former Guiseley midfielder Ollie Norburn.

    The 23-year-old is a former Chelsea and Leicester City youngster who has also played for Bristol Rovers and Plymouth.

    Norburn had been on trial with the Silkmen during pre-season and scored in their friendly against Leeds.

    Macclesfield, who finished 10th in non-league's top tier last season, start their new campaign against Torquay on Saturday, 6 August.

    The public have their chance today to get in and see the cheeses on show at Nantwich's international cheese festival. Judging for the International Cheese Awards took place yesterday and now the annual event on the town's showground is open to all.

    A man has been arrested after four buildings at Keele University, including the Islamic Centre, were damaged in a burglary.

    Staffordshire Police, external say they were called last Thursday morning after an alarm went off - an office, a bar and nursery were also targeted.

    The force say damage was caused and items stolen. 

    Officers arrested a 27-year-old man from Newcastle-under-Lyme on suspicion of burglary and he's been bailed while their investigation continues.

    I've spent all day at the International Cheese Show in Nantwich, sampling some of the 5,000 cheeses on display.

    Chefs, producers and traders have been milling around learning and exploring the truly global variety.

    I spoke to TV chef Joe Hurd who told me the West Midlands has some of the best cheeses in the country.

    Emergency services in the Midlands are warning of the dangers of swimming in open water, especially during the school holidays.

    In the past week, eight people across the UK have died after swimming in rivers, quarries and lakes, including 46-year-old Sylwester Ficon in Burton upon Trent.

  17. Knife amnesty 'a success'published at 16:27 British Summer Time 26 July 2016

    Staffordshire Police has told me on Morgan in the Morning a month-long knife amnesty has been a real success. 

    More than 200 weapons were surrendered across the county - including four lock knives, two samurai swords, a meat cleaver and a barber's razor. 

    Half of those have been given in at Hanley Police station.

    Police in Crewe are trying to trace a man suspected of sexually assaulting a teenage girl.

    Officers say it happened on a path on Cranborne Road in late May when a man in his early 20s made what they describe as "inappropriate advances and comments to a 16-year-old".

    The man was wearing red and orange jeans and a black coat, with a silver trapezium shape picture on the back.
