    Staffordshire Fire and Rescue service is warning householders about placing mirrors in direct sunlight - after a fire in Rolleston. 

    Firefighters say the reflected light from a mirror caused a bedroom blind in the house to burn. 

    The incident happened in the bedroom of the property on Beacon Road in Rolleston-on-Dove at 07:45 yesterday.

    Crews managed to put out the fire before it could spread.

    Ex-football coach Barry Bennell has pleaded not guilty to 20 charges of historical child sexual abuse. 

    The 63-year-old appeared via video-link at Chester Crown Court.

    The ex-youth coach at Crewe Alexandra faces 20 charges of historical child sexual abuse against four boys who were under the age of 16 at the time of the alleged offences.

    The incidents are all alleged to have taken place between 1980 and 1987.

    Earlier in the week, BBC News revealed which roads had been suggested to us as England's steepest streets , with Ordnance Survey helping check their gradients.

    So we asked you on the BBC Radio Stoke Facebook page, external which places in Staffordshire and Cheshire might compete with ones like Gold Hill in Dorset and Vale Street in Bristol.

    Richard Lockett posted, external : "I'd say Penkhull Bank. I remember my dad taking me to do hill-starts around there, Hill Street and Honeywall! Then the one I did on my test was flat in comparison!" 

    Gareth Jones added, external : "James Street in Penkhull is a nightmare to run down towards the end of the Potteries marathon! And Station Road in Mow Cop is pretty steep when running past the Cheshire View pub in the Killer Mile."

    The prison service says procedures for inmates being taken to hospital have changed since the death of a man serving a sentence at Stoke Heath prison. 

    Richard Grindon, from Fenton in Stoke-on-Trent, died at the Princess Royal Hospital.

    Doctors couldn't use a defibrillator because he was handcuffed to one officer, while another, with the keys, was elsewhere in the hospital. 

    An inquest jury found the delay in treating him may have contributed to his death.

    The number of accidents between junctions 16 and 19 of the M6 in Cheshire has risen since roadworks began there last year.

    Figures obtained from Cheshire Police by BBC Radio Stoke show there were 533 crashes between February and December 2016 - up 4.5% on the same period in 2015 when there were 510.

    Work started in December 2015 on making that stretch of the motorway into a so-called smart motorway , external , with variable speed limits and the hard shoulder opened to traffic in busy periods. 

    In response to news of the increase in crashes, Highways England says safety is its top priority and they urge drivers to stick to the 50mph limit through the roadworks.

    Port Vale remain two points from safety after losing at League One's bottom side Coventry last night.

    The Vale went 2-0 down inside the first-half, before defender Nathan Smith got a goal back with 16 minutes to go. 

    The defeat increases the threat of relegation to League Two for Port Vale as they are still in the bottom-four, with two games in hand on Shrewsbury Town in 20th.

    A university worker who was struck by debris from a building during Storm Doris was engaged, her family has said, as they paid tribute, external to a "much-loved" daughter.

    Tahnie Martin, 29, died from serious head injuries after she was hit by a 2m-long piece of timber amid high winds in Wolverhampton city centre.

    The debris is thought to have broken away shortly before hitting Solihull-born Miss Martin, who lived in Stafford and worked at the University of Wolverhampton.

    Relatives said her death had left a "massive hole" and it was "impossible to imagine a future with any happiness without her".

    They thanked the emergency services and shop workers who tried to help her.

    The investigation to establish the circumstances of her death is now being led by the City of Wolverhampton Council, supported by West Midlands Police and the Health and Safety Executive.

    A motorcyclist and a pedestian have died after a collision on the A525 outside Nantwich this afternoon. 

    West Mercia Police say both men died at the scene. 

    The road between Nantwich and Whitchurch is likely to remain closed for some time between the junctions for Foxes Lane and Dark Lane. 

    Diversions are being set up, but there is already heavy traffic in the area.
