  1. Major revamp at Stafford's Victoria Park to be decidedpublished at 09:23 British Summer Time 8 May 2017

    Councillors will decide this morning whether to give the go-ahead for major renovations at Stafford's Victoria Park. 

    A special planning committee will meet after a site visit to the park.

    The plans would see a new events space created, including stage, with added seating area, catering facilities, a lean-to green house and two aviaries.   

    Some local residents have complained that the new design would mean the demolition of some existing features such as the park's kiosk.  

  2. Fire breaks out at wholesalerspublished at 08:35 British Summer Time 8 May 2017

    Firefighters are tackling a blaze at a wholesale food store on Portland Street, Cobridge.

    It broke out just after 02:00. It's thought the Freshways shop was empty at the time and there is currently a cordon in place near the shop for safety reasons. 

    People living in the surrounding areas are being told to keep their doors and windows closed.

    It will be another fine day with good spells of sunshine for most. 

    Temperatures will be lower compared to yesterday, with a cool northeasterly breeze, although it will still feel pleasantly warm in the sunshine - highs of 16C (61F).
