    Thousands of people from across the world are flocking to Stoke-on-Trent to relive their clubbing days.

    In the early 1990s, the city was one of the most popular rave locations in the country.

    Clubs like Shelleys and the Golden brought thousands to Stoke-on-Trent.

    Now, more than 25 years on, club promoters say there's been a huge resurgence, with such demand that they're putting on more reunion nights in the area.

    A fire which destroyed around 1,000 tonnes of wood, external and a tractor is thought to have been started deliberately, the fire service say.

    Staffordshire Fire Service says five crews were needed on Saturday morning to tackle the blaze on fields off Spring Lane, Pershall.

    It took them until the afternoon to put the fire out and they then returned twice over the weekend to make sure it was had not reignited.

  3. Charity raises £10,000 at V Festivalpublished at 13:25 British Summer Time 4 September 2017

    The charity Village Water, external says says it raised more than £10,000 at the V festival last month.

    The Shrewsbury-based organisation provides safe water and sanitation for communities in rural Africa.

    Village Water had more than 100 volunteers at the event, helping campers by renting trolleys and offering a plastic bottle exchange, as glass bottles weren't allowed on the festival site.

    More black and Asian people in Staffordshire are being urged to become organ donors as the NHS says there are 22 people from those backgrounds in the county currently waiting for a transplant.

    NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) says, external organs from people from the same ethnic background are more likely to be a close match and lead to more successful transplants.

    The organisation says black or Asian patients make up almost a third of its national waiting list but are less likely to agree to be organ donors.

    Overall, it says there are currently 105 people in Staffordshire waiting for a transplant and says 107 people in the county have died while on the waiting list in the last decade.

    Four people have been charged after two men suffered serious head injuries in Stafford at the weekend, external, police say.

    Staffordshire Police says they were called on Saturday night to Edison Road and the two victims were taken to hospital for treatment.

    They say they've charged a man and three teenage boys with violent disorder.

    Cheshire Fire Service says there were three fires on the site on King George V Playing Fields, Crewe, on Friday evening.

    It says Cheshire Police have now taken over the investigation as the fires are thought to have been started deliberately.

    A man has been arrested in connection with a burglary in Stoke-on-Trent which saw an elderly woman's rings taken from her fingers.

    It happened on 24 August at her home on Ashwood and police say the victim was tied up while her flat was ransacked and jewellery and cash stolen. , external

    A 45-year-old man has been arrested and is in custody being questioned, a spokesman says.

    Investigations are continuing today into what caused a serious fire in Mow Cop at the weekend which forced 15 families to take shelter in a village hall.

    Cheshire Fire Service say acetylene cylinders were in danger of exploding in the blaze early on Sunday morning which affected outbuildings , externalon Mow Cop Road.

    No-one was hurt in the fire, external and people were allowed back to their houses later the same morning, police say.

    Train passengers from Stoke-on-Trent and Crewe are facing more disruption as another day of rail strikes is being held.

    Arriva Rail North staff have walked out for 24 hours from midnight in a row over driver-only operated trains, following a similar walkout on Friday.

    An attack on an elderly woman who was tied up and had rings ripped off her fingers in Stoke-on-Trent, external has been called "a diabolical and horrible incident" by police.

    Staffordshire Police say two men went into the woman's house on Ashwood on 24 August and restrained her while they took the rings.

    She was then tied up with cord from her dressing gown and a towel put over her head while the pair ransacked her home, taking more jewellery and cash.

    The first red bus lane's been stripped away on Wedgwood Street, Burslem overnight, external with the road resurfaced.

    The council says it's costing thousands of pounds from the existing highways budget and claims it won't affect bus services.
