    Hundreds of schools and academies across the West Midlands are closed for a second consecutive day due the extreme winter weather.

    More than 200 schools in Shropshire , externaland Telford, external are listed as shut today, with more than 60 in Herefordshire , externaland Worcestershire, external.

    There are also closures listed in Stoke-on-Trent, external, Staffordshire,, externalWolverhampton, external, and Sandwell, external, along with about 60 in Warwickshire, external.

    Twenty or so schools remain closed in Coventry, while Birmingham City Council says it's left the decision up to individual schools.

    That's the classrooms rounded up, then. We'll let you know about rail, roads and buses throughout the morning.

    Last night's freezing temperatures mean there could be icy stretches on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths, the Met Office says.

    Tonight I want to share some of the amazing igloos you've been making across the West Midlands. They say Rome wasn't built in a day, but it's fair to say ice houses were built in just a few hours.

    This morning we featured a video of someone who spent eight hours yesterday building one and it looks like he wasn't the only one...

    Paramedics who were called out in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire, to a report of someone sitting on a bench, not moving and covered in snow say it turned out to be a statue.

    West Midlands Ambulance Service worker Katie Tudor tweeted about the story,, external saying they'd been called today by a "concerned member of the public".

    More than 3,000 people have signed a petition , externalagainst plans for a turkey farm near Stafford.

    Proposals have been lodged with South Staffordshire District Council to put up four new buildings at Toft Farm, Levedale Road, Levedale to house 20,000 birds, external.

    Campaigners claim it'll be cruel for the animals and will have a huge impact on traffic in the area and the health of local residents.

    BBC Radio Stoke's tried to contact Holt Farms who are behind the plans but they've declined to comment.

    A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault after a man was stabbed.

    The 27-year-old was walking along Princes Road in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, when he was attacked between 00:45 and 01:15.

    A police spokeswoman said the victim is in a serious but stable condition.

    The arrested man is in custody. Police are looking for two other men and are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

    More than 350 schools in the West Midlands will be shut for another day tomorrow due to the forecast icy, wintry weather conditions.

    The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for ice from this evening, external into tomorrow morning, following the snow that's already fallen.

    Patients, staff and equipment are being tagged in a drive to speed up access to beds at a major acute hospital.

    About 4,000 sensors have been installed at the Countess of Chester Hospital allowing patients to be matched to beds.

    A spokeswoman said the system had cut the bed waiting time from four hours to about 150 minutes for patients admitted to A&E.

    A dry and clear night is forecast with widespread frost and icy conditions developing by the early hours.

    It will be a much colder night with temperatures dropping down to -5C (23F) in the inner cities and -11C (12F) in some rural places.
