    A couple from Ipswich have spent their first night back in the county with their baby daughter, after returning from the Dominican Republic four months after her birth.

    Originally the couple's insurance company refused to cover the cost of the original medical treatment for baby Evie, who was born three months early, but they reconsidered their decision.

    Sharon Halls, Evie's mother, said most of the issues are now sorted. We'll have more on this later.

    The mother of Evie Compton, who has just returned to Suffolk four months after being born prematurely in the Dominican Republic, says they want their daughter to learn Spanish "whether she likes it or not".

    Sharon Halls said "She's responded so well because obviously all the nurses would have been speaking to her in Spanish".

    Father Daniel Compton added: "The first language she's heard is Espanol."

  4. Ipswich man charged with possession of imitation firearmpublished at 12:00

    An Ipswich man has been charged with robbery, possession of a knife in a public place and possession of an imitation firearm.

    The charges follow an incident in Tesco's car park at Copdock on Sunday afternoon when a mobile phone was stolen.

    The 28-year-old is due in court today, Suffolk Police, external say.

    Ipswich Town's, external Australian winger Tommy Oar says he's coming to terms with the rigours of playing in England and there's more to come from him.

    The 24-year-old, who joined Town from Dutch club FC Utrecht, external in August, has also been telling BBC Suffolk he's happy with his defensive duties in the side.

    "Here it's more about winning your individual battles whereas in Holland it was less 'in your face', a bit more tactical. That's probably the one side of the game I still have to get used to, but I'm slowly getting there," he said.

  9. Young people need to be involved in shaping mental health support services, survey findspublished at 08:47

    The need for better mental health education for young people is one of the findings of a survey which will be considered at today's meeting, external at Ipswich Hospital of Suffolk's health scrutiny committee.

    The survey, which involved almost 250 teenagers in the county, also highlights the need for young people to be involved in shaping support services.

    Vikki Versey, who carried out the survey. said: "Young people have a clear opinion of what needs to happen... They do want to know a lot more."
