    The mayor of Sudbury says common sense has prevailed, following the announcement that the number of fire engines in the town won't be cut to one.

    Following the announcement of Suffolk County Council's revised savings plan, Jack Owen said: "The Sudbury fire service in my view should be upgraded, but I didn't think that was possible. 

    "The fact that we've achieved this is a wonderful victory for Sudbury and the solidarity of Sudbury people."

    Alleged cyber hacker Lauri Love, from Stradishall, will not have to hand over passwords for his encrypted computers, a judge has ruled.

    If you're not familiar with the story, here are the basic details:

    • Lauri Love, 31, was arrested in October 2013, facing charges of hacking into agencies including the US Army, Nasa and the US Federal Reserve
    • The US government is seeking his extradition and a hearing is expected later in the year. He faces no charges in the UK
    • If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to 12 years in prison
    • In 2015, Mr Love withdrew civil court action against the National Crime Agency (NCA) when the majority of computer equipment seized at the time of his arrest was returned to him
    • As part of the civil action, the NCA asked the court to order Mr Love to hand over passwords because the organisation said it could not decrypt some of his computer files
    • Mr Love fears he would not get a fair trial in the US

    Overrunning roadworks on the A14, which mean a contraflow is still in operation, are causing major delays for drivers both east and westbound approaching the roadworks area at Stowmarket, between J49 and J50. 

    A spokeswoman for Highways England says an engineer is on their way to the scene to try to find out what the problem is.

    Apologising for the delays, she added: "We'll reopen both carriageways as soon as it's safe to do so."

    The East Anglian Mixed Martial Arts Academy, external, a charity in Kirkley that helps children and adults keep fit and overcome personal issues, says it needs to raise £375,000 by the end of the year, or it will have to close.

    Founder Lee Wall, who has set up a fundraising campaign titled Wishing for a Miracle to support plans to move to new premises, says the charity supports a diverse range of people.

    "We've got a couple of young ladies that come here who are recovering alcoholics," he said.

    "Twice a week they come here without fail. This is their other addiction. They've got rid of the bad addiction, this is the good addiction."

    Suffolk's chief fire officer says revised proposals for cuts to the service show public opinion has been listened to.

    Two of the original proposals which have been scrapped were the closure of Wrentham fire station and the removal of one of Sudbury's fire engines.

    Mark Hardingham says while he knows not everyone will be happy, he hopes most will be satisfied.

    "We have come to a position where every one of the proposals has either been adjusted or two have been removed completely," he said. "So I think we have listened to what people have said, including our own staff."

    Police are treating the death of a man in Ipswich yesterday morning as unexplained.

    Officers were called to Spring Road just after 07:15, along with paramedics.

    The man, who is believed to be in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

    There aren't thought to be any suspicious circumstances.

    The Suffolk side were beaten 62-23 at Kent Kings, who will now face Birmingham in the National Trophy Final. 

    Danny Halsey (pictured), who missed last week's defeats at Kings Lynn and Belle Vue, top scored for the visitors with 10 points.

    An alleged cyber hacker from Stradishall is expected to find out whether British security services can force him to hand over the passwords of his encrypted computers.

    The National Crime Agency (NCA) accused Lauri Love of hacking US government networks in October 2013. No charges were brought against him in Britain, but a number of his devices were seized. 

    Now the NCA wants the passwords to check data, before returning the electronics. A judge at Westminster Magistrates' Court will make the decision later.

    Captain Amanda Crump scored a hat-trick as Ipswich Town Ladies thumped Kirkley & Pakefield Ladies 8-0 in the Suffolk FA Women's Cup Final at Portman Road last night.

    Substitute Sophie Welton was also on target twice, with the other goals coming from Hollie Clement, Molly Hall and Libby Dixon in a one-sided final. 

    Ipswich led 5-0 at half-time, as they eased to their seventh success in the competition.

    The Labour group on Suffolk County Council says the scaled-back changes to proposed cuts to the fire service are still too much.

    The service had been facing £1.3m cuts from the budget of £22.2m but that saving has been reduced to £1m, following a public consultation.

    Sandy Martin, leader of the Labour group, said: "The bit of the consultation process that they appear to have listened to most is the focus groups, which involved the number of people you can count on a few hands.

    "The thousands and thousands and thousands of people who signed the petitions would basically say they didn't want to see any reductions in the fire service, and we will still be fighting to prevent any reductions."

    Ipswich Town's, external Andre Dozzell and Ben Morris played their part as England beat France 2-0 in their second match at the European Under-17 Championship, external last night.

    Dozzell (pictured) set up the opening goal for Morris after 15 minutes. The midfielder, who recently broke into the Town first-team, then played a through-ball which resulted in a penalty. Reiss Nelson converted to double the lead.

    England round off their group fixtures against Denmark on Friday.
