    Mildenhall Fen Tigers, external chairman Kevin Jolly has been handed a suspended £250 fine for calling off his side's home meeting against Cradley on 19 June.

    Additionally, the match was awarded to their opponents.

    Club adviser James Easter said: "It was an extremely fair hearing and I would like to thank the Speedway Control Board for listening to our case and for their understanding.

    "The club fully accept the decisions taken by the disciplinary committee and now will focus on moving forward for the good of Mildenhall speedway and the sport in general."

    Reports suggest there has been a rise in the number of hate crimes, external since the EU Referendum result was announced on Friday. 

    It comes as Meg Rosoff from Shingle Street, near Woodbridge, had been telling Mark Murphy about some highly offensive racist remarks which have been written on public signs in the hamlet, leaving her upset and distressed.

    She said: "I'm a foreigner, I've lived here 26 years, I've always felt at home here, I've always felt that this is an extremely welcoming, and multinational and diverse place to live.

    "And the funny thing is, you can hear from my accent that I'm American. I've always felt that we had the high road over America, I've always felt a little bit smug about choosing the UK to live in."

    British wildcard Marcus Willis faces the daunting task of playing seven-times champion Roger Federer in round two of Wimbledon this afternoon.

    Willis, who is 769 places below today's opponent in the world rankings, won the East of England Championships, on the Suffolk coast, in 2013.

    Their match is scheduled for third on Centre Court.

    Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy wants to see teenage defenders Josh Emmanuel (pictured) and Myles Kenlock challenging for regular first team football this season.

    When given the opportunity, largely in cup competitions, they both impressed last year.

    "I've said to them don't be coming back just as two daft young lads around the place," McCarthy said.

    "You are two first-team squad members and you've got to get in the team. I think we've got two good young full-backs who are challenging now."

    Ipswich Town, external boss Mick McCarthy revealed defender Paul Digby came first in the dreaded bleep test on the first day of pre-season training.

    The 21-year-old finished ahead of midfielder Luke Hyam, who's usually the player to beat.  

    "You go away and have your fun but you've got to come back ready because you're a professional," Digby told Ipswich Player HD. "At the end of the day, it's your job.

    "There's no room for coming back unfit because it's so competitive. You need to come back at a good level and then keep improving throughout pre-season, getting ready for the season ahead."

    We're going to concentrate on sport for a while now, and news that former Ipswich Town, external defender or midfielder Kevin Foley won't be returning to Portman Road.

    The 31-year-old's short-term deal expired this summer, and manager Mick McCarthy believes he has ample cover with the emergence of teenager Josh Emmanuel.

    "Josh was excellent when he played at right-back last season and he's got to be the second choice behind Luke Chambers, challenging for that spot," he said.

    BBC Radio Suffolk presenter Stephanie Mackentyre says her daughter, who is caught up at Istanbul airport, has been left with little information of what will happen next. 

    Her 19-year-old daughter Sophie was travelling to South Korea, via the airport, and had to stay on the plane while emergency services dealt with the incident.

    The student from Felixstowe was unhurt, but must wait while the situation is dealt with. Steph said: "I think it's just been so chaotic there. 

    "She does now know there is going to be a flight for her, they have told her that, but it won't be until 18:30 this evening.

    "So that's some hope, and I'll just be so relieved when she gets out of the airport."

    Drivers are being warned of traffic problems on the A14, at J41 near Risby.

    The road is partially blocked on the west-bound carriageway, due to a crash between three vehicles. Congestion stretches to J42, at the Westley interchange.

    BBC Radio Suffolk presenter Stephanie Mackentyre has been speaking about her daughter's experience after she was allowed to leave a plane at the Istanbul airport yesterday.

    She said: "I had a text from her which said the only way they could get a hotel was to get a visa, so they queued up in a long queue until about three o'clock in the morning and found that the visa desk had closed.

    "They're also not able to buy any food and that also includes water, if they haven't got a visa, so the last I heard was that they were still trying to get food and water. She said that they were going to leave the airport and go into Istanbul.

    She said she had told Sophie, pictured above with her twin sister, that she should stay at the airport. "I told her that's a definite no, you have to stay in the airport there, there's security there. Whatever it costs, whatever you have to do, just do it and we will reimburse you."

    Stephanie Mackentyre says she has spoken with her daughter Sophie, who was held on a runway at Istanbul's Ataturk airport during yesterday's attacks, and has confirmed she's safe.

    The plane the 19-year-old student from Felixstowe was travelling on had stopped at Istanbul en route to South Korea.

    Steph said: "Thankfully I finally managed to get hold of her and she was on the plane, but no idea why they were being held. 

    "So I gave her some brief details. I didn't want to scare her, she was there with two friends, and it transpired they were on the plane for five hours.

    "They got off at 00:30 last night, and were allowed into the airport building."

    BBC Radio Suffolk presenter Stephanie Mackentyre has been telling us of her worry overnight, as her daughter was caught up in the aftermath of the attack at Istanbul's Ataturk international airport.

    Thirty six people were killed by three suicide bombers at the airport, and more than 140 people have been injured.

    Steph's daughter, 19-year-old Sophie, was on a plane which was kept on the runway while emergency services were dealing with the incident.

    Steph said: "I put the television on and of course, alI I could see was ambulances and re-runs of people filming the bomb attack.

    "I knew that her plane landed, or had landed at the time of the attack, and I couldn't get hold of her. It was a really scary time."
