Striker Daryl Murphy made his first appearance of the summer after returning from international duty with the Republic of Ireland at Euro 2016.

  8. Hailstones set off car alarm: 'I've never seen anything like it'published at 08:43 British Summer Time 21 July 2016

Suffolk seems to have had a real mix of weather last night. Some areas avoided the storms altogether, others had torrential rain and some lost their power for a while too.

As you can see from this film which Al Leeder posted on YouTube, there were even some huge hailstones:

  10. Two-tier is not best, says NUTpublished at 08:28 British Summer Time 21 July 2016

    Kelly McCormack
    BBC Radio Suffolk

The secretary of the National Union of Teachers in Lowestoft, where middle schools closed in 2011, says the two-tier system is not best.

Speaking as Suffolk County Council's nine-year programme for change comes to a close, Peter Byatt said: "Middle schools were very successful."

    Endeavour House

"They had those buffer years for adolescents to start growing up not in the high school situation, but of course it's all changed now.

"We finish at 11 and then move on to the high school then you go on to sixth form college. We’ve still got a three-tier system, it's just bumped up a bit."

  11. Suffolk's last remaining middle schools to closepublished at 08:11 British Summer Time 21 July 2016

    BBC Local Live

Four middle schools in Bury St Edmunds will be saying goodbye to their pupils this afternoon for the final time.

St Louis, St James, Hardwick and Howard (pictured) are closing due to a decision made in 2007 by Suffolk County Council, which wanted a two-tier system across the county.

There are already some comments on our Facebook page:

    • Linda Jane Hunt writes, external: I went to Howard middle in the 70s and loved it my boys went to St James another lovely school I am going to feel very sad tomorrow
    • Tish Nunn says, external: To be honest, I'm not a fan of having lost the three tier system as I feel it allowed for a more personal system for the children, with smaller school populations, and made the transitions between schools less of a major upheaval than the sudden leap straight to a comparatively huge 'big' school.

  12. Welcome to Thursday's Suffolk Livepublished at 08:00 British Summer Time 21 July 2016

    Philippa Taylor
    BBC Local Live

Good morning and thanks for joining us on the day we finally say goodbye to Suffolk's remaining middle schools.

It was back in February 2007 that Suffolk County Council voted to replace middle schools with a county-wide two-tier system.

We'll hear from students and teachers, as well as the council itself, but we'd love your thoughts too. You can send us an email, or post a message on our Facebook page, external.
