    The Duchess of Cambridge has been the royal patron of East Anglia's Children's Hospice since January 2012, and launched their nook appeal two years ago.

    Last night's fundraising event at the Natural History Musuem featured a message from the Duchess, in which she spoke about how the nook will transform children's palliative care.

    "Not only will the nook be a very special place to receive care, it will become a central hub from which the specialist team can co-ordinate, develop and deliver vital services in hundreds of family homes. 

    "I am in no doubt the nook will make a huge difference to thousands of children and families for many years to come."

    She ended her message by wishing guests an enjoyable evening and thanking them for "helping EACH move closer to achieving their vision".

    At today's pre-match press conference, Mick McCarthy has taken the unusual step of naming his Ipswich Town team to face Bristol City, more than 48 hours ahead of kick-off.

    McCarthy has confirmed there will be no changes to the starting XI that won 3-0 at home to QPR last weekend.

    That means Bartosz Bialkowski will continue in goal with Luke Chambers, Adam Webster, Christophe Berra and Jonas Knudsen in defence.

    Grant Ward, Cole Skuse, Jonathan Douglas and Tom Lawrence make up the midfield with David McGoldrick and Luke Varney up front.

    The midfielder grew up supporting City before joining them as a 10-year-old and going on to make more than 300 appearances for the first team. 

    "As much as you try to say it's just another game, it isn't because I've obviously got a huge attachment to them," Skuse said. 

    "I'm sure once I cross the white line I will forget about things, but it will be an emotional day for me and my family."

    Check out what one of our sharp-eyed collegues spotted this morning in Ipswich - a gantry in place and activity at The Mill in Ipswich. 

    The building saw damage to polystyrene tile cladding back in storms in 2013. 

    The Mill is believed to be the tallest residential building in East Anglia, although it doesn't have any residents yet as work on the interior was halted in 2009 when the developers went into administration.

    This morning a team of workers could be seen at 233ft (71m) high structure, which was also the home to a family of nesting peregrine chicks this summer.

    West Suffolk Hospital, external has revealed profits made from increasing car park charges will be invested in maintaining healthcare there. 

    Director of workforce and communications, Jan Bloomfield, said: "We've done it because of our current financial situation.

    "Every penny that we earn from car parking goes into our coffers. 

    "What makes me comfortable is the fact that by doing this we're not having to make further difficult decisions about some of the services that we're providing."  

    Prices for stays of over an hour will go up in the new year. For four hours parking it'll increase from £4.80 to £8.

    Ed Sheeran has cracked a joke about his cool new Action Man style facial scar at a charity gig in London.

    During his first official performance of 2016 at the Natural History Museum, he said: "It's nice to be back. I've had a whole year off. 

    "I went to Japan for about a month and hung out with Japanese people. Got my face cut open, anyone read about that?" 

    According to reports, Ed was accidentally cut on the face by Princess Beatrice during a party prank in which she pretended to knight Jame Blunt - you couldn't make this up. 

    The singer was playing to 350 guests at the East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH) gala dinner.

    The chief executive of East Anglia's Children's Hospices, Graham Butland, says last night's gala dinner in aid of their appeal to build a purpose-built hospice, external on the outskirts of Norwich was "spectacular".

    The evening was hosted by Sir Martyn Lewis, CBE, and included a performance by Suffolk singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran, who is an ambassador for the charity.

    Mr Butland says they're nearing the halfway point for the £10m needed for "the nook" - which will be the name of the new hospice.

    The East Anglia's Children's Hospices, external (EACH) charity provides care for children and young people with life-threatening conditions with hospices in Ipswich, Milton near Cambridge and Quidenham near Thetford in Norfolk.

    The charity has outgrown its current building in Quidenham and has planning permission for a new hospice at Framingham Earl, five miles south of Norwich.

    The nook, on a five-acre site, will offer services that are currently unavailable or limited at Quidenham, such as a hydrotherapy pool, music studio and accessible outside for children to play. It will also have more areas for clinical care, and a quiet haven area for families.

    The charity needs £10m to make their vision come true. 

    EACH chief executive Graham Butland says they're "well on their way", with nearly £5m raised since the appeal was launched by its patron, the Duchess of Cambridge, in November 2014.

    The midfielder, who was there were fellow City stars Robbie Brady and Russell Martin, bid £19,000 for a holiday for 10 people at the Sumaridge Estate Lodge in South Africa.

    An exclusive performance by Ed Sheeran has helped raise more than £300,000 for East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH).

    The singer-songwriter, from Framlingham, is an ambassador of the charity. Last night he performed his only gig of the year, at a charity dinner in aid of the EACH nook appeal, external.

    Ed, who took to the stage at 23:15, posed for a "selfie" with a group of guests who'd paid £7,000 for the privilege, before he began his 40-minute set.

    The audience was treated to performances of his most best-known hits, including Thinking Out Loud, Sing, I See Fire and The A Team.

    He also played Justin Bieber's Love Yourself, a song he co-wrote, but said he'd never played live before.

    If you look closely at Ed's right cheek, you will see the wound he received from a royal prank involving a sword, which went wrong.
