MP highlights 'dangers' of hospital replacement planpublished at 11:01 British Summer Time 6 October 2020
The Westmorland and Lonsdale MP Tim Farron says replacing the Royal Lancaster Infirmary and the Royal Preston Hospital with a single new development could be "dangerous" if it means South Cumbrians have to travel further for emergency care.
The MP was speaking after the Health Secretary, Matt Hancock, said there would be a consultation on how to replace the two hospitals, which provide emergency and major trauma centres for the south of the county.
Mr Hancock said he understood Tim Farron's position, but his constituents would be consulted on how the two hospitals could best be replaced.
