After ignoring letters requesting payment, the council took Ms Snape to court and she was fined at Ipswich Magistrates' Court in her absence.

  2. The Queen's speech: What's in it for us?published at 12:36 British Summer Time 21 June 2017

    Andrew Sinclair
    BBC Look East political correspondent

Immigration, support for farmers and taking back control of our fishing waters were the stand-out measures for the East announced in today's Queen's speech.

The government says the new Immigration Bill will allow it to control the number of people coming here from the EU after Brexit. The Agriculture Bill promises to put in place "an effective system to support UK farmers" who will lose their subsidies after we leave the EU.

But the Fisheries Bill stands out with its strong promise to "enable the UK to control access to its waters and set UK fishing quotas once it has left the EU". This was a key demand of fishermen along the coast during the election and whilst there are no details about future quotas and access rights, the government is clearly serious about improving things for our fishing industry.

In a region where the poor standard of some schools has been an issue, it is worth noting that the government remains committed to making failing schools become academies but plans for grammar schools have been dropped.

Bear in mind that a lot of what is being promised will depend on the current Brexit negotiations and on this minority government staying in power. Two very big uncertainties in this new parliament.

  17. Analysis: Ipswich face decent start, busy christmas, tough run-in?published at 10:02 British Summer Time 21 June 2017

    Graeme Mac
    BBC Radio Suffolk sport

On paper at least, Ipswich Town fans can be confident of a reasonable points haul in August following the release of the fixtures for the new Championship season.

Kevin Bru and Jonas Knudsen celebrate goal against NorwichImage source, Getty Images

In addition to Birmingham City at home on the opening day, Town face Brentford and Fulham at Portman Road before the first international break, along with Barnsley and newly promoted Millwall on the road.

Jonas Knudsen (pictured), will already have an eye on East Anglian derby dates with Norwich, I'm sure, having scored in both fixtures last season (Town face the Canaries at home on 21 October, and go to Carrow Road on 17 February).

The Christmas period is traditionally a busy one for footballers, and Ipswich have four matches scheduled between 23 December and New Year's Day (when they visit Fulham).

Town's end of season run-in, meanwhile, could certainly have been more favourable.

Aston Villa at home on 21 April is followed a week later by a trip to Reading (who reached the play-offs last time around), before recently relegated Middlesbrough come to Suffolk on the final day of the campaign.

  18. Analysis: Ipswich face fellow underachievers on opening daypublished at 09:54 British Summer Time 21 June 2017

    Graeme Mac
    BBC Radio Suffolk sport

It will be a home fixture for Ipswich Town on the opening day of the new Championship season, with Harry Redknapp's Birmingham City the visitors to Portman Road.

    Harry RedknappImage source, Getty Images

Both teams undoubtedly underachieved by their own standards last season, finishing 16th and 19th respectively.

Redknapp (pictured) has since brought in goalkeeper David Stockdale on a free transfer, and the Brummies have also been linked with former Chelsea captain John Terry.

Town have signed both defender Jordan Spence and striker Joe Garner, with more new faces likely to follow in the coming weeks.

Away trips to Barnsley and newly promoted Millwall, and further home fixtures against Brentford and Fulham ought to give Town fans hope of making a decent start to the new campaign.

Make no mistake, an encouraging opening month is crucial for Ipswich Town and manager Mick McCarthy, given the wave of negativity that followed them through a hugely disappointing 2016/17.

All of Ipswich Town's fixtures for 2017/18 can be found here.
