Read MoreA large biowaste digestion plant in west Norfolk is to be built on the riverside near King's Lynn.
The anaerobic digestion plant, at Cross Bank Road, would turn about 40,000 tonnes of vegetable and animal waste a year into biogas..
King's Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council , externalapproved a scheme for three digesters, a feeder unit, water storage tanks and an access road.
The Civic Society and some local residents objected to the size of the scheme claiming it would ruin the landscape, cause unpleasant smells and create an increase in the number of lorries.
Terry Pither said: "The approved plant was just 14,000 tonnes per year, but this has increased to 42,000 plus which is a considerable amount.
"We've accepted and got used to losing the fight to stop the anaerobic digester going there, but now we're faced with much larger tanks."
