Large crowds lined the streets of Lewes this evening to enjoy the annual bonfire celebrations, despite a rail strike, extensive road closures and heightened security.
Tens of thousands of people take part in the bonfire celebrations in the East Sussex town of Lewes.

The Cliffe Bonfire Society is one of seven societies in Lewes which take part in the celebration.

There was a mixed reaction to the news that armed police will patrol the streets of Lewes during the bonfire celebrations.

Sussex Police has put out a warning on Twitter that is towing away cars dangerously parked on the A26 and A27 tonight. It says drivers who's cars have been removed can pick them up from Police HQ in Lewes before midnight.
