Armed police will patrol the streets during Lewes bonfire celebrations, Sussex Police have said.
Several roads into Lewes will also be closed.
Ch Supt Neil Honnor said: "Due to the national security threat assessment and the evolving nature of the threat we have reviewed our response... and as a result have put additional security measures in place.
"This includes the additional road closures."
