    The pilot and owner of a plane that crashed into the sea off the Sussex coast says his aircraft's engine cut out at an altitude of about 400ft.

    Ian Perry swam to shore with his passenger after the light aircraft ditched into the water shortly after taking off from Shoreham Airport yesterday afternoon. 

    By the time the Shoreham lifeboat arrived at the scene Mr Perry and his passenger had swum ashore and the plane had sunk.
