  10. Interim report released into Waterloo train crashpublished at 10:45 Greenwich Mean Time 20 December 2017

The Rail Accident Investigation Branch has released an interim report into a train crash near Waterloo station, which happened on 15, August.

Investigators say a set of points outside the UK's busiest station were "not set correctly" and "directed the train away from its intended route".

It adds that the driver of the commuter train - bound for Guildford - noticed this and applied the brakes "three seconds" before crashing into an engineering train.

This reduced the train's speed and the impact.

There were no injuries, however the crash caused widespread disruption lasting more than a day.

Vandals smashed four windows, two doors and emptied fridges and freezers during a raid on a football club.

Worthing United was targeted on Monday 18 December.

Club chairman Steve Taylor said the "mindless action was hugely disheartening".

While nothing was stolen except some cans of cola, the damage will cost thousands of pounds to repair, he said.

The physio room, officials room, tea hut/kitchen and outbuildings were all raided.

Volunteers helped to clear up the mess and secure the buildings, but the windows will all need to be fixed if the club's Boxing Day match is to go ahead.

During the summer the club unveiled a new stand in memory of the 11 victims of the Shoreham air crash, as two of the men who died in the tragedy played for the side.

The memorial was not damaged, which Mr Taylor said was a small comfort.
