    People gathered as soon as they could for a drink with friends

    People in Brighton didn't waste any time getting together at the pub as new rules came into effect on Monday.

    At midnight, beachfront bar Shooshh opened its doors and people sat out with their friends, protected from the elements by a large canopy and patio heaters.

    Tables were limited to six people

    The self-proclaimed super-club drew up special rules for the event, with customers having to pre-book tables and limit their groups to six people.

    Police officers attended the event.

    Andy Gardner, who was taking pictures, said it appeared to be "running really smoothly".
