  1. Andros Townsend: Newcastle complete £12m signing

    In case you missed it last night, Newcastle completed the signing of England winger Andros Townsend from Tottenham for a fee of about £12m.

    The 24-year-old has signed a five-year deal with the Magpies.

    Townsend has made just three substitute appearances in the Premier League this season and was dropped for a Europa League match in November after a row with fitness coach Nathan Gardiner.

  2. Man charged after 56 cars damaged in Middlesbrough

    A 62-year-old man has been charged over damage caused to more than 50 cars on Teesside.

    The man from Stockton is charged with criminal damage, possession of a bladed article and driving without insurance.

    Cleveland Police said it followed "an incident in which 56 vehicles were damaged in Errol Street and surrounding roads in Middlesbrough" on 20 October.

    A force spokeswoman said the man is due before Teesside magistrates on 8 February.

  4. Travel: Broken down lorry closes A19 lane

    There is one lane closed and slow traffic on the A19 northbound in Elwick between the North Lane junction and the A179 junction because of a broken down lorry.
