    BBC Radio 1

Liam Payne says his home life with girlfriend Cheryl and young son Bear is the "constant" he needs as his solo career takes off.

"She's absolutely amazing and it's nice to have a constant at home, when I go home, with things as crazy as they are at the moment," said Liam.

"Our lives get more and more insane as time goes on, it's the best thing ever but you do need that bit of happiness at home."

And despite Liam and Cheryl being A-list British celebrities, their home life sounds suspiciously similar to a lot of other people's.

    Damian O'Neil
    BBC Look North

A former River Tyne ferry that carried people between North and South Shields for more than 20 years has turned up on the south coast of Ireland.

The Freda Cunningham, as she was known, was sold by Nexus in 1993 and nothing more was heard of her.

Now, after a new lick of paint, she's called Mystic Waters and working once again as a ferry.

Since 2006 the Freda Cunningham has been operating between West Cork and the tiny Island of Sherkin, which is a popular tourist destination on the south west coast of Ireland.

Her reputation for poor reliability has thankfully not followed her.

  12. Could Newcastle United be sold to Chinese syndicate?published at 08:12 British Summer Time 13 June 2017

    Colin Briggs
    Look North

Newcastle United could be on the brink of a £400m takeover deal with an as-yet unknown Chinese syndicate.

Reports suggest there has been fresh interest in United, who won promotion back to the Premier League at the end of last season.

The Magpies have not commented on the matter, but there was no outright dismissal from sources on Tyneside either, which there has been in the past.

It is not the first time a potential buyer has expressed an interest in the club, bought by Ashley for £134.4m in April 2007.

However, no acceptable offer has ever been received and the Sports Direct tycoon has remained at the helm.
