  1. FA to contest decision not to charge Man Utd boss over NUFC commentspublished at 15:44 Greenwich Mean Time 7 November 2018

    BBC Sport

The Football Association will appeal against a decision not to charge Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho for comments he made after a match.

The FA claimed that Mourinho swore in Portuguese to a television camera as he walked off the pitch following a 3-2 win over Newcastle on 6 October.

However, United successfully contested the original charge.

The FA's appeal comes after considering the written reasons of the Independent Regulatory Commission inquiry.

English football's governing body had expressed surprise at the decision to clear Mourinho, made by the three-person panel, after they had used a lip reader to support the case that his remarks were offensive.

Researchers at Newcastle University claim children may be more likely to be stabbed when walking home from school.

The joint study with health professionals found the time immediately after lessons finish, between 16:00 and 18:00 account for a "significant peak" in attacks on youngsters.

It also found out of 1,800 people under the age of 25 surveyed, 860 were aged between 16 and 19.

It also included researchers from Queen Mary University of London, London Ambulance Service, Barts Health NHS Trust and South East Coast Ambulance Service.

The researchers concluded: "We have shown that assaults resulting in penetrating injuries occur in distinct age-related patterns.

"Specifically, the period immediately after school accounts for a large proportion of incidents in children, and these predominantly occur close to home and school.

"This represents an opportunity for targeted preventative strategies in this population."
