1. Newcastle United fans' group scraps protestspublished at 10:31 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2018

A proposed boycott of Newcastle's home match against Wolves on Sunday has been called off.

It had been planned in protest against owner Mike Ashley's running of the club.

In a statement the boycott organisers, The Magpie Group, said the decision was made "in light of recent developments concerning a potential takeover of the club".

It also confirmed all match-day protests have been postponed until after the January transfer window.

The group says this is to allow Mike Ashley and a potential buyer "a clear run at reaching a deal".
