    Homes and businesses without water in Middlesbrough may have to wait a little longer to be reconnected.

    Engineers from Northumbrian Water are working to repair a large burst on a water pipe on Ladgate Lane near Marton railway station which has cut off mains water to hundreds of addresses in South Middlesbrough.

    The company says people with no water or low pressure might not be back in full supply until around 15:00.

    It's contacting high-priority customers to get them bottled water.

    Northumbrian Water has said it's hoping supplies will be back to normal to homes in the Middlesbrough area by midday.

    Engineers are working to repair a burst water main on Ladgate Lane, which happened at 07:30 between Overdale Road and Alan Peacock Way.

    Supplies to homes in the TS3, TS4, TS5, TS6, TS7 and TS8 postcode areas have been affected - with some reporting low pressure and others having no water at all.

    Ladgate Lane has been closed to traffic, and BBC Tees reporter Matty Nixon said: "Traffic is being re-routed through Park End, so traffic is building in the North Ormesby and Berwick Hills areas as a result."

    Six schools have also been closed.

    They are: Acklam Whin Primary, Easterside, Holmwood School, Marton Manor, St. Clare's and St. Thomas More.

    With either low pressure or no water at all, the burst near Marton railway station, close to Ladgate Lane, has caused travel problems, as the road is closed.
