    Yorkshire 365-7 v Durham 346 - Yorks lead by 19 runs

A big black cloud is sitting over Headingley and it's not just a metaphor for Durham.

It's big enought to prompt the umpires to bring the players off the field for bad light - even with the floodlights on.

And they have called an early lunch at 12.10pm. Hopefully it will pass by soon and we won't lose any overs.

And when it comes to overs, Durham have just 2.2 overs left to try and get two more wickets to pick up a final bowling point.

  5. Durham need 'a few snookers and perhaps a miracle'published at 11:48 BST 26 September

    Yorkshire 357-6 v Durham 346 - Yorks lead by 11 runs

    BBC Radio Newcastle

Ben Raine has managed to take a wicket this morning, which has given Durham a second bowling point, but it may all be in vain, in terms of trying to avoid relegation.

Matthew Revis fell LBW for 38 after putting on a 50-stand with George Hill. Durham really need to win this one to stay up, given the way Hampshire have had the better of Surrey so far.

The problem is Yorkshire are standing firm. Their players know they simply need to bat out time in this one and as long as they don't lose they stay up.

As a result Durham look flat in the field and I can't see how they will end up in a position where they can win this. They really need a favour from Surrey.

A few snookers and perhaps a miracle for good measure.

  20. Great afternoon for Agarwalpublished at 15:56 BST 25 September

    Tea: Yorkshire 198-2 v Durham 346 - Yorkshire trail by 148

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Indian batsman Mayank Agarwal may have struggled at the beginning of his Yorkshire career. He was signed for the final three matches and in his three innings to date he suffered two ducks and scored 26 runs.

But will Yorkshire's gamble to bring in a well-known overseas player pay off in their bid to avoid relegation? He's scored 116 so far today.

In comparison, Durham signed a little known Afghan spinner called Shafiqullah Ghafari, who was playing for Richmondshire in the NYSD League. They decided to play him in their final two games and left out the experienced Callum Parkinson. It's a head scratcher, that one.

Ghafari took 1-211 on his debut against Worcestershire last week and is going at nearly six an over today. Although he did dismiss Adam Lyth for 69, Agarwal has taken a real liking to him.

He brought up his century with his fourth six off the bowler and has added 62 runs in 78 balls with James Wharton. Wharton has seven, by the way.

Durham look flat in the field once again. The thought of them taking maximum bowling points seems a long way off. The body language looks that of a condemned team and has done for weeks now.

And as things stand it will be Division Two next season, unless they find some fighting spirit in the remainder of this game.
