10:49 BST 16 SeptemberDurham put Worcestershire in
Martin Emmerson
BBC Radio NewcastleIt's a lovely day in the North East. Perfect for cricket. Who says you shouldn't play in September?
Well, lots of people actually, particularly yesterday when there was no play in eight out of nine games across the country.
The fact is they have played in September as long as I can remember and the weather is often lovely, like today. I can't recall people saying they should not be playing at this time of year last summer. It was shorts and T-shirt weather.
Durham have put Worcestershire in, as you would do after yesterday's rain and they have re-called Will Rhodes.
Colin Ackermann misses out. Since scoring a century in both innings at Trent Bridge at the start of the season, he's only averaged about 13.
Afghan spinner Shafiqullah Ghafari has been given a debut by the hosts. He has played for Richmondshire in the North Yorkshire South Durham league since 2022 and has taken more than 200 wickets.

11:19 BST 15 SeptemberDurham v Worcestershire - start delayed
Martin Emmerson
BBC Radio NewcastleLots of heavy showers are forecast today, so much so I am not sure how much play we will see in CLS, if any.
The umpires have been out a couple of times to inspect and we did have bright sunshine around about 11:00am, but the covers are now back on and the next band of rain appears to be on the way.
It's frustrating given Durham's need for points to try and get out of the relegation zone, while Worcestershire are now effectively needing snookers and miracles to survive.
