We're into the final few overs of day three at Trent Bridge and Notts are in a good position to push for a win tomorrow.

After a wobbly start Durham recovered for a period but have now just lost Ben McKinney for 37. He was caught by keeper Joe Clarke off the bowling of Josh Tongue.

It came an over after Tongue thought he had the batsman caught at first slip, only to see Lyndon James put him down.

Earlier they were 29-2 when Fergus O'Neill had Alex Lees lbw and then bowled Emilio Gay two balls later, to leave him with a pair.

Colin Ackermann then joined McKinney in the middle and the two added 71 runs in 15 overs before the latter was out.

I said earlier Lyndon James averaged 92 against Durham going into this innings. It was actually 96 and it's heading upwards because he's got another century against them today.

He has five centuries in first-class cricket and three are against Durham. He brought it up with his 14th four and followed that with a six into the Bridgford Road stand.

Notts are in a real position of strength here but because they are nine down, tea is delayed.

However with a 49-yard boundary on the Bridgford Road side of the ground a lead of 172, on a very good batting track, may not be that big.

Josh Tongue has made 50 on his long-overdue Notts debut.

He agreed to join them at the end of 2023 but then got injured on England duty and missed last season. He's played some nice cover drives and got there in 81 balls, with eight fours.

Durham are struggling to make any inroads with the ball this afternoon, after Matthew Potts took two in two earlier in the session.

Tongue has also put on 91 for the ninth wicket with Lyndon James, who averaged 92 against Durham when he entered the field earlier today. He now has 91.

Cleveland Police says some neighbours were asked to leave their homes as a "precaution".

I said this morning that there are plenty of runs to be had here and Notts continue to make steady progress and have almost wiped out Durham's lead.

Matthew Montgomery was dropped in the slips last night on four and now has 38 from 98 deliveries. Lyndon James, who really enjoys batting against Durham, is on 30 from 36 balls.

Only one wicket has fallen today, that of night-watchman Farhan Ahmed, who was caught in the slips on 17.

At this rate Notts will be start to build a lead this afternoon.

An investigation is launched after the victim was found dead in County Durham on Saturday evening.

It's another gorgeous morning in Nottingham and warmer than yesterday, so we have a prompt start - although yesterday we were expecting the same until the sprinklers burst into action at 11:00am and robbed the game of 45 minutes.

They are trying to claw back that time today so we will have 100 overs, with play scheduled to end at 6.15pm. I will believe that when I see it, however. They went off at 6.51pm yesterday.

Day three is often considered "moving day" but this is a good batting track. And with a 50-yard boundary on the Bridgford Road side of the groud, there are plenty of runs to be had.

This one came in 93 balls and included seven fours.

He has two centuries to his name, as well and looks the part. Could be a big future in the game for him. He's already played for England Lions, too.

Ben Slater enjoys playing Durham. His highest score in FC cricket is 225* in a win in Chester-le-Street in 2022.

He now has eight half-centuries against them as well, following his 50 today which included 10 fours.

Durham thought they had him caught behind on 35 but umpire Graeme Lloyd said he wasn't out. Bowler Matthew Potts was celebrating with his colleagues at the time.
