Durham added 101 runs in the afternoon session on day two, but lost three wickets doing it. One of those to the returning Jofra Archer.
The England bowler started off fairly routinely in the morning session, bowling only four overs in his first spell.
But in the second he seemed to move up a few gears and got Emilio Gay lbw, with a quicker delivery which looked to be yorker-length. Gay was out for 37.
Durham trail by 210 runs at tea but it is a slowish track at the moment and there are still plenty of runs to be had.

It's a sunny day in Chester-le-Street, but it isn't half windy. We have gusts of about 45mph, which will make things interesting for the players.
The first job for Durham is to end the Sussex first innings. The last pair are in, with James Coles on 117 from 190 balls. He was dropped twice yesterday on 36 and 95. How costly will that be?
The Durham bowlers worked hard to get the wickets though, especially with the Kookaburra ball and for a while it looked like Sussex were going to leave a few too many runs out there. But a quickfire 31 from Jofra Archer helped put a partnership together of 57 for the ninth wicket, which certainly helped their cause.
And all eyes will be on him later when he has the ball in his hand. He will be bowling in the Championship for the first time in four years. It will also be interesting to see what Australian fast bowler Gurinder Sandhu can do on his Sussex debut.

James Coles has batted nicely today but has also had a bit of luck on his side. His fifth first class century is his first away from Hove as well.
He should have been out on 36 though, but an edge down the leg side off Ben Raine was spilled by the keeper Ollie Robinson. He was on 95 when he had a second life. Again it was Ben Raine who should have had him, but the diving Bas de Leede spilled the chance at backward point.
We had a 10-minute delay earlier because of passing rain but things have brightened up since then and Jofra Archer is out in the middle, for the first time in four years, in a championship match.

The lights have just come on in CLS. It's got very gloomy and there are lots of threatening clouds about. It's very windy too.
Durham can take the new ball in two deliveries, but the runs have dried up and Jack Carson has just been caught behind off Bas De Leede on two.
They have lost three wickets since tea for just 30 runs, but have reached a batting point. Durham will feel it's been their day though, especially with the Kookaburra ball!

Sussex chose to bat earlier and struggled initially, as Ben Raine bowled Tom Haines for four in the third over. Five of his first seven overs were maidens.
Tom Clark also found the going tough and took nearly 20 deliveries to get off the mark, but has now put on more than 50 with Australian Daniel Hughes. Clark has 29 and Hughes 41.
This is one of two back to back Kokaburra ball games and last season they were awful to watch. They offer very little for the bowlers, so I wouldn't be surprised if Sussex wrack up a decent score. However they are gently pootling along at three an over at the minute.
Jofra Archer is playing in his first championship match for four years. He's just had a net session with his England colleague, the Durham fast bowler Mark Wood, who is also returning from injury.
