  1. 'St James' crowd can lift players' - Howe

After missing his first home game in charge due to a positive Covid-19 test, Howe is looking forward to experiencing the St James' Park crowd for the first time.

"I'm looking forward to experiencing that tomorrow and really trying to get the crowd to help us on which I know they will. Hopefully that can lift the players to produce a great performance.

"Brentford was a unique experience [watching from a hotel] and something I don't want to experience again. You have a feeling of control but I had no control at the same time. I could hear a delayed noise from so far away."

  2. A 'step by step process' - Howe

Newcastle v Norwich (Tue, 19:30 GMT)

Still without a win in the Premier League, Newcastle are currently bottom of the table and on their longest-ever winless run from the start of a league season. Only one side has ever stayed up in the Premier League after failing to win their opening 13 games - Derby County in 2000-01.

However, Howe says it's important to not look too far ahead.

"We're aware how important these games are but it's a dangerous thing to look too far ahead.

"I'm looking at training today as my first priority and then of course the game tomorrow. It's a step by step process."

  3. Early team news: Lascelles and Ritchie suspended

Newcastle v Norwich (Tue, 19:30 GMT)

    Newcastle United

Eddie Howe confirms that there are no fresh injuries following Saturday's 2-0 loss to Arsenal, but the Magpies will be without Jamaal Lascelles and Matt Ritchie who are suspended.

"We have the two suspensions [Lascelles and Ritchie] and they're going to be big misses for us with the experience they have but I don't think there are any fresh injuries from Saturday.

"It's good for us to see the squad because there's some players I've seen very little of in my time here for various reasons but I'm confident whoever comes in will give a good account of themselves."
