Read MoreA seven-month-old puppy who was given oxygen after being rescued from a kitchen fire has made a full recovery.
A neighbour called 999 and firefighters found Clio, a Presa Canario, in the kitchen of the Sunderland house on 4 January.
Firefighters described her as "distressed" and took her outside where she was given oxygen from a specialist kit provided by the RSPCA.
Owner Aleksander said: "Clio is a smart dog and was sniffing around the bottom of the kitchen door for the clean air and didn’t panic.
“She spent a few days with the vet making sure her oxygen levels were normal after breathing in the smoke but now she is back to her normal self, I can never thank the firefighters enough for saving her.”
Station Manager Shaun Makin, of Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service, said: “The oxygen therapy kit is present on all our appliances so whenever your furry friend needs it we will be there.”
