Durham bowl out Worcestershire for 81 and then score 108-4 to win their County Championship match at New Road with two days to spare.

Just when it looked like Durham were more or less home and hosed we have had another twist at New Road.

Durham opener Ben McKinney had reached 34 when he looked to pull a ball from Matthew Waite to the boundary but was caught by the diving Brett D'Oliveira at mid-on.

It was a great catch and did enough to stir up some hope among the home supporters again. A target of 108 is normally a nominal one, but on a ground where 34 wickets have fallen in five and a half sessions, it's anything but.

If the light holds we will be in for a thrilling two-day finish in the next half hour.

I suggested a little earlier Worcestershire should declare because they could well have more than enough runs on this track.

30 wickets have fallen in five sessions for 379 runs. But, they were bowled out in 23.5 overs for just 81 runs. It's their lowest total against Durham and the sixth lowest score by a county side against them as well.

The target is 108 runs, which doesn't sound much, but on this strip that's the equivalent to 300. I don't think this game is over by any stretch of the imagination.

I did suggest on air - this morning - the match would end today and I stand by that one. Unless bad light proves me wrong later.

As I walked from the press box to the pavilion the first wicket had just fallen.

As I climbed the steps wicket number two fell and by the time I had looked at the scoreboard and written down the details number three came along.

This is just daft.

We have seen 20 wickets fall in this game and we haven't had 300 runs yet. They've fallen for a total of 298.

Durham resumed their first innings this morning on 55-4 and were soon in trouble, losing two wickets in one Ben Allison over, before George Drissell and Graham Clark added 47 for the seventh wicket.

Clark fell for 16 and Drissell was then out for 31 - the second highest score of the game!

Durham were dismissed just after 1pm for only 136, which is their second lowest score against their opponents.

There were three wickets apiece for Tom Taylor and Ben Allison. But on this track, that 26-run lead could be priceless. I think this game could be over today. If not, I doubt it will reach lunch tomorrow.

When two wickets fell in the fourth over of the day I didn't think Durham's hopes of reaching 100 were good.

But thanks to a partnership of 42 from Graham Clark and George Drissell they have got there. The two have been together for 104 deliveries.

These are much-needed runs in a low-scoring epic. The highest partnership in the game is only 55! All they can do is be watchful and bat and bat. But it really is difficult to judge where we are with this game at the moment.

The weather forecast has completely changed from the one forecast yesterday. It's a nice, sunny morning in Worcester and quite warm.

I wonder if that will improve batting opportunities today? We have already had 14 wickets in this game and only 217 runs.

Yesterday the ball was nipping about, but the wicket was slow and the outfield snail pace. The highest total so far is the 42 from Pears debutant Henry Nicholls.

From what we've seen so far, if anyone manages to reach 50 here they will have done very well.

Jake Ball, who has joined Durham as an emergency loan signing from Somerset, has taken a five for on his debut. It's his eighth in first-class cricket.

He took the first three wickets to fall this morning and then took the final two shortly after tea. He's finished with figures of 5-47 in 16.2 overs. Fellow debutant, South African Codi Yusuf, also took 2-36 as Durham made light work of the Worcestershire order.

They had maximum bowling points in the bag after 66.2 overs. But on a slow track it's been difficult for the batsmen to time the ball and get it away. The outfield is also dead slow, so Durham may well have their work cut out with the bat.

There are 25 overs to go this afternoon - if the light holds! It's gloomy at New Road.

A report for Redcar and Cleveland Council says staff had been overstretched.

Durham gave debuts to three bowlers today - Jake Ball, Codi Yusuf and Jack Blatherwick. And so far two of them have been in the wickets.

Ball took all three to fall this morning, before South African Yusuf bagged two this afternoon. He got New Zealand debutant Henry Nicholls LBW for 42 in the 43rd over. The ball shot through low and got him around about the lower shin.

Nicholls had been battling away nicely on a tough batting track and faced 115 balls before his innings ended. A few minutes later Matthew Waite edged Yusuf to Blatherwick in the gully and departed for eight.

Runs are hard to come by. The outfield is very slow and there haven't been many boundaries.

In normal circumstances this total may be worth at least another 30 runs more than it currently is.

This was a good toss to win and Durham's new loanee Jake Ball is certainly enjoying the best of the conditions at New Road.

He's taken both wickets to fall so far. Gareth Roderick had a life on four when he was dropped at first slip by Will Rhodes. It was a straightforward chance, but two delieveries later he edged a wide one to the keeper.

Ball then got an inside edge off Jake Libby's bat and dismissed him at the end of the 10th over for nine. Ollie Robinson took both catches.

It's a bit overcast and cool at the moment and they are playing on a new field after the groundstaff had to re-plant it following five winter floods.

They are paying tribute to legendary journalist John Curtis today. "Mr Worcestershire" passed away a few weeks ago and is being remembered with a minute's silence at New Road.

His seat in the press box has his Worcestershire bodywarmer on it and a spectator has also brought a bunch of flowers and placed them on his desk. His partner Judy is also here.

"JC" will be a big miss. He was a larger than life character.

Meanwhile it's all change for Durham. Emilio Gay and Matty Potts miss this one. We are not sure what is wrong with Gay, but Potts is about to link up with England in Southampton. Brendan Doggett turned his ankle on Monday morning and also misses this one.

Durham have signed South African all-rounder Codi Yusuf and he comes into the side. Jack Blatherwick has joined on loan from Lancashire and Jake Ball from Somerset. They all play.

Worcestershire have signed New Zealand Test batsman Henry Nicholls, who played briefly for Durham seconds in 2011 after joining Blaydon in the North East Premier League.

It's the first game here this year, after another winter of floods, so it's anyone's guess as to how the new square will play.
