Frank Colenso lives in Hovingham, which is 10 miles from the proposed fracking site at Kirby Misperton in Ryedale, North Yorkshire.

He's told the committee that the passion surrounding fracking is on a par with the referendum on a British exit from the European Union.

But he says there's no referendum for North Yorkshire people on fracking and so the committee "must decide for them".

A report from the authority's planning department recommends the application from Third Energy to frack at Kirby Misperton is approved, but during Friday we heard many objections to those plans.

The planners' report is only a recommendation, though, and the final decision rests with the 11 councillors on the planning committee, consisting of seven Conservative members, one Labour member, one Lib Dem and two Independents.

Following Friday's objections, today's it's expected we'll hear from several speakers in favour of the application.
