North Yorkshire's two National Parks have seen an increase in visitors over the last four years.
Nearly 17 million people visited the North York Moors, the Yorkshire Dales and the surrounding areas last year.
They provided £1.2bn to the local economy - about £1m more than was raised by tourism in 2012.
German tourists, Rolf and Rita Fenes, returned to the North York Moors for the first time in 20 years this year and they've told BBC Radio York everyone they met was very welcoming.
Quote MessageFor example, in Castle Howard, in every room there was a person to give you answers to all your questions and that is something we really enjoy and miss a bit in our country."

Overall, today won't be a bad day, with variable amounts of cloud to start but things feeling much fresher.
We should see some brighter skies and sunny spells and where we do it will feel pleasantly warm.

An appeal's been launched by the Yorkshire Museum in York to save one of the largest Roman hoards ever found, external in the north of England.
More than 1,800 Roman coins dating back to 307AD were discovered by a metal detectorist at Wold Newton in the Yorkshire Wolds in 2014.
Andrew Woods, from the Yorkshire Museum, says it's important they raise the money needed to keep the coins in public hands.
Quote MessageWe need to raise £44,000 over the next few months otherwise this hoard will be lost forever and the chances of us finding another one like it are slim."

Yorkshire moved to the top of the One-Day Cup Northern, beating Leicestershire by 191 runs at Grace Road.
Travis Head and Jack Leaning rewrote the Vikings' record books with a third wicket stand of 273, beating the 242 by Martyn Moxon and Ashley Metcalfe against Warwickshire in 1990.
On his 50-over debut for the count, Head hit 175 off 139 balls while Leaning finished on 131 not out as the visitors reached 376 for 3.
Leicestershire were bowled out for 185 in the 34th over.
It'll stay mainly dry for most of North Yorkshire with some bright or sunny spells through the day, and a moderate westerly breeze.
It'll be rather cloudier over the Pennines, with patchy light rain, and one or two showers later.
