Summary

DUP marginally largest party by one seat
Sinn Féin has increased its vote, taking 27 seats
Biggest casualty is UUP leader Mike Nesbitt who announces resignation
Turnout is the highest in assembly poll since the vote which followed the 1998 Good Friday Agreement
Overall turnout is 64.8% - up from 54.9% last year

SDLP MP Mark Durkan says he accepts that Sinn Féin have had "a very good election" at the party's spiritual constituency.
"We have taken dips before in Derry and then recovered in the following election but the fact is that even with increasing our vote tally, we didn't increase our vote share. Sinn Féin rode the wave of anger over RHI and Arlene Foster very well and that tide basically overtook us," he said.
