    Clive Lewis

MP Clive Lewis, a leading Corbyn supporter, says he is "not counting his chickens yet" but believes that his man has "done well". Mr Lewis, who has reportedly turned down a frontbench role if Mr Corbyn wins, says there is a "real buzz" at the venue and a sense that something historic is about to take place.

  4. 'Word of caution"published at 10:47

    BBC News Channel

    Professor John Curtice

Elections expert Professor John Curtice sounds a "word of caution" about suggestions that Jeremy Corbyn has won. He tells the BBC News Channel that there were only two opinion polls conducted during the contest, he says, the last one of which took place before two-thirds of those who have since registered to vote had done so. This means a lot could have changed since then. However, he says all the evidence points to the fact that the vast majority of people who have joined Labour since their election defeat were backing Mr Corbyn. If Mr Corbyn wins, he adds, it would be a "rejection of New Labour and Blairism".

  5. An 'invigorating' contestpublished at 10:43

    BBC News Channel

    Ian Murray

Ian Murray, shadow Scotland secretary and Labour's only Scottish MP, is asked whether he's approaching the result with excitement, anticipation and dread? All of those things, he tells presenter Jane Hill. Citing the 76.3% turnout, he says Labour's democracy has been "revolutionalised" by the process, and the party should be "incredibly proud" of this.

    Quote Message

This has been an invigorating leadership contest for the Labour Party - lots of different ideas from lots of strands in the party, and it should be exciting for the future."

  11. Labour MP: Don't complain about resultpublished at 10:30

    BBC News Channel

    Lucy Powell

Labour MP Lucy Powell, a key former aide to Ed Miliband, says the "next few days" will be crucial if Jeremy Corbyn wins and says he will be expected to "show leadership". She suggests "all the signals are that he wants to build an inclusive and united Labour Party". Ms Powell does not rule out serving in the shadow cabinet, adding that the party needs to harness the energy that has been generated by the campaign and the new people attracted to Labour "to its electoral advantage". The contest, she adds, has been the most "open and democratic" in the party's history: "We cannot complain about the result just because we don't like it."

  12. 'The London factor'published at 10:26

    BBC News Channel

BBC assistant political editor Norman Smith, at the conference centre, says no-one seems to be expecting anything other than a Corbyn victory, with speculation he could win outright in the first round. He says the left-winger has managed to "completely blindside the whole Westminster establishment... and has tapped into something out there which has swept away all the conventional electoral arithmetic".

He says Mr Corbyn has capitalised on rule changes enabling the people to sign up as registered supporters for £3, entitling them to a vote. Norman adds:

    Quote Message

That tells us, more broadly, London is becoming a different country. Labour has done much better in London but it's a much younger demographic and that is the demographic he's managed to tap in to, and I fully expect it'll sweep him to victory."

  15. Deputy leader's 'ballast'published at 10:20

    Tom WatsonImage source, PA

It's easy to forget there's another election taking place today - that for deputy leader. Tom Watson is the frontrunner and the BBC's Norman Smith says his "union support and organisational skills" may see him come out on top. The deputy's role, he suggests, will be as a "source of ballast" to keep the party together in the weeks and months ahead. But he says that a lot of Labour members will think it is a "bit odd" if the top three elected roles in the party - including that of London mayoral candidate which yesterday was won by Sadiq Khan - should be held by men.
