They should apply now for the funding, so support can be provided immediately. The longer they take, the harder it will be for workers to find new jobs, education or training. Other countries have applied for this funding - why should British workers who've been made redundant not get the same help as their Romanian and Dutch counterparts?"

    Quote Message

We know that we've got the £8bn pledged by 2020... If it all comes on stream at the end, the NHS is going to be in very serious financial difficulty... If it all comes in one slug the NHS doesn’t do well with that. What we need to see is a steady increase. I would like to see at least £4bn of that coming by the end of next year.”

  20. Cameron says talks making good progresspublished at 13:27

Prime Minister David Cameron has also been talking about the progress on renegotiating the UK's relations with the EU. Speaking in Brussels, he said the summit had two big goals:

    Quote Message

The first is the migration crisis, where Britain is playing a leading role as the largest European donor to the Syrian refugee camps. We need to do more in terms of helping those neighbouring countries, helping with the World Food Programme… We'll also be discussing the British renegotiation, that has now got under way - it's going well. The bill for our referendum has passed through the Commons, it's now in the House of Lords. The pace will now quicken, and I'll be again setting out the four vital areas where we need change, laying down what those changes will be at the start of November."

But he believes there will be a good deal for Britain:

    Quote Message

I'm confident we can get a good deal for Britain, we can fix those things that need to be fixed, and I'm confident that this process is well under way and making good progress."
