  1. PM: Lords shouldn't try to block tax credits planpublished at 12:30

Conservative Jacob Rees Mogg asks whether the PM shares his concern that if the Lords were to block working tax credits "it would be a serious challenge to the privilege of this House". It would entitle the PM to review whether to appoint more Conservative peers to ensure government legislation is passed, he adds.

He makes an "important point", responds David Cameron. He says the 1911 Parliament Act means the Commons alone decides on financial matters - noting that MPs have twice approved the tax credits cuts. "The House of Lords should listen to that very carefully," he cautions.

  2. PM: I have confidence in Jeremy Huntpublished at 12:29

Ian Mearns, Labour MP for Gateshead, claims that "virtually the entire health service" has no confidence in Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt - and asks the PM how much longer he can continue to support him.

David Cameron tells the House: "I support the secretary of state as I think he is doing the right thing," saying he is increasing investment in the NHS.

He defends Mr Hunt's junior doctors contracts plan - saying it will not cut their pay or increase their hours but ensure the health service "works better" for all.

  4. PM to Corbyn: Go back to 1985 and stay therepublished at 12:27

This is not the time to campaign for nuclear disarmament, says a Conservative MP - a point which David Cameron wholly endorses. He says it's "very disappointing" that the long-standing cross-party consensus on the need for a nuclear weapons programme has ended (Jeremy Corbyn opposes Trident renewal). He says that on this, "Back to the Future Day", Mr Corbyn "should get in his Delorean go back to 1985 and stay there".

  6. Child poverty question from SNP MPpublished at 12:24

SNP MP for Glasgow, Anne McLaughlin raises concerns about child poverty - and seeks a personal guarantee that no child in her constituency will be worse off a year on from now as a result of tax credits cuts.

David Cameron says in-work poverty increased as tax credits rose. "It's time for a new approach: higher pay, more jobs, lower taxes," he tells her.

  10. Tax credits question from the SNPpublished at 12:20 British Summer Time 21 October 2015

    David Cameron

Does the PM have the "faintest idea" of the cost of his cuts to tax credits, asks Angus Robertson. The SNP opposes the changes proposed by the government.

David Cameron responds by saying social rents are falling as a result of government action and cites expanded free childcare and increased personal income tax allowance as evidence of other government help. He says higher pay and lower taxes help family finances, and strengthen the economy.

SNP Westminster leader Angus Robertson raises the case of a disabled father who a coroner ruled had killed himself after being found fit for work after a work assessment. He asks the PM to publish the findings. David Cameron says he can't comment on the individual case - but promises to look at his question of publication.

  13. Backbench questions nowpublished at 12:16

That's it for frontbench exchanges. Conservative MP Andrea Jenkyns is the first backbench MP to question the PM, and wants to know what the government is doing to ensure children have access to good education. The PM tells her that right teaching and right leadership is key.

  16. Disabled people's rightspublished at 12:15

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has his final question now, which comes from "Louis". He says the UK is being investigated by the UN "over allegations of grave and systematic violation of disabled people's rights". Will the PM to commit to cooperate fully with the inquiry and publish in full its response?

David Cameron says tens of thousands more disabled people are in work because of the government's policies and says the UK has some of the strongest equality legislation in the world. He says he'll look at the UN investigation but cautions that sometimes "you find they're not necessary all they're cracked up to be".

  19. Cameron: We do have a planpublished at 12:16

David Cameron goes through the action he says the government is helping to support the steel industry. But he's cut short as Speaker John Bercow reprimands Labour MP Tom Blenkinsop for making too much noise. David Cameron, resuming, says "we do have a strategy, we don have a plan" and urges cross-party co-operation to implement it.

  20. Steel industry questionpublished at 12:12

    House of Commons
    Parliament

During PMQs Jeremy Corbyn moves from tax credits, to the UK steel industry. He highlights the "devastating effects" of government "non-intervention". The Labour leader says it's time to "walk the walk not talk the talk" on an industrial strategy.

David Cameron says the government wants to help the steel industry, which he says is affected by world steel prices collapsing by more than a half. The government is helping in four areas, he says: procurement, energy costs, unfair competition and tax and government support.
