  8. Labour queries whether PM letter broke ministerial codepublished at 17:53 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2015

Labour has written to Cabinet Secretary Sir Jeremy Heywood suggesting that David Cameron's letter to Oxford County Council leader Ian Hudsepth may have breached the ministerial code.

In the letter, Mr Cameron invites Mr Hudspeth to meet the No 10 policy unit regarding budget cuts.

Quoting the ministerial code, shadow minister without portfolio Jon Ashworth says ministers "must keep separate their roles" as a minister and constituency members, and asks:

    Quote Message

Is it the case that if the prime minister has made this offer of 'further dialogue' available to the leader of his local county council, similar offers should be made to all the leaders of other councils? Surely the leader of the prime minister’s county council should not be given preferential treatment?"
