    Before this statement, asked by an MP "after we bomb Syria what's the plan" Michael Fallon, the defence secretary says "of course in Syria we will need on the ground forces that are local and fully supported".

    He says the Iraqi Prime Minister does not want Western troops on the ground and requires local fighters who have local support.

    However he says that should not deter them from "making a stance" against so called Islamic State's headquarters in Syria.

    Michael Fallon, the defence secretary, says it is may be "too late" to change the name used for so-called Islamic State, also known as ISIL and ISIS.

    In answer to a question urging for the group to be referred to as Daesh - a derogatory term - he said he fully agreed.

    "I myself prefer the term Daesh, because I think it is more accurate, it does not embrace the word Islam. But ISIL has become, and ISIS has become, accepted terms in the British media, and it may be too late to make that particular change," he says.

    Defence Secretary Michael Fallon says France will use an RAF base in Cyprus to help them with air strikes carried out in Syria against so-called Islamic State. 

    Asked by Labour's David Hanson what is being done to cut off the group's arms supply, Mr Fallon says the government is "intensifying efforts" to cut off Islamic State's ability to sell oil on the international market. He adds their supply routes are being "directly targeted" between Syria and Iraq.
