  4. Ex-government ministers criticised over new jobspublished at 09.28

    The Mirror highlights the appointment of ex-coalition government ministers to high paying jobs in their former sectors. 

    Labour's Paul Flynn told The Mirror, external: "It is wrong that anyone should be selling their inside knowledge and contacts."

    An investigation done by the newspaper found 25 former members of the last government were now working in the industries they were appointed to while in government.

    The newspaper said the new jobs did not break any rules.

    Welsh First Minister Carwyn Jones is to debate UKIP leader Nigel Farage head-to-head on the UK's future within the European Union.

    The hour-long debate is being hosted by independent think tank, The Institute of Welsh Affairs, before an audience of 400 people at Cardiff Bay.

    Mr Jones has said leaving the EU would be "catastrophic" for Wales.

    Mr Farage, who backs EU exit, has said Wales' steel industry is being over-regulated by an "economically illiterate" EU.

  12. Jeremy Corbyn: Labour is 'strong and determined'published at 08:40

    On his broader political agenda, Mr Corbyn says Labour is "very strong and determined" to pursue its anti-austerity agenda, claiming he has put David Cameron on the back foot over welfare and police cuts. He says he is "not going to war with anyone" and is seeking to appeal to a "broad swathe" of public opinion which is put off by the similar economic strategies of the other parties. Under the Conservatives, he says that the country will see increased inequality, homelessness and division. He concludes with a rallying call and a statement of intent.

  14. Jeremy Corbyn: Islamic State 'have not come from nowhere'published at 08:30

    Asked whether as PM he would agree to a drone strike on a terrorist group, Mr Corbyn said he would have to look at the evidence and what difference such military action would make, suggesting it would have little impact. He says that the West needs to consider the reasons for the growth of so-called Islamic State, saying they have "not come from nowhere" and are "well armed and well financed".

    Jeremy Corbyn is asked about his sacking of Pat McFadden. The Labour leader says Mr McFadden "distorted" his views on terrorism in a speech in the House of Commons in the wake of the Paris attacks. He says it is wrong to argue he is in favour of terrorism, saying the taking of innocent lives is "absolutely disgraceful" and the French government was not in any way responsible for the attacks in Paris. But he says that Mr McFadden was not happy with his leadership or the direction of the party.

    Moving on to Trident, the Labour leader says he wants members to have a say on whether to renew the UK's nuclear deterrent, telling the BBC's Nick Robinson "there is brilliance in everyone who has ideas". He says there is a need for "a serious, intelligent debate" about the role that nuclear weapons play in the 21st Century. Asked whether he will speak at a CND/Stop the War anti-Trident rally in February, he says he supports the event and he will see whether he is invited.

    Asked why he did not move Hilary Benn to a new position, Jeremy Corbyn says he does not know where the briefings suggesting this was going to happen had come from.     Now on to politics. Jeremy Corbyn says he has read the diaries of previous Labour leaders and says that there is "never a good time" to conduct reshuffles. He acknowledges that these things take time. He says that he is happy with the team around him and the party is "now moving on" and focusing on May's elections.
