The former MP George Galloway has won permission to sue the internet giant Google over allegations made at a loyalist protest in Belfast.

The remarks were recorded at a picket outside a talk Mr Galloway was giving in the city in 2014. The footage was then uploaded to YouTube, which is owned by Google, and was viewed 17,000 times.

A judge at the High Court in Belfast dismissed an attempt to stop the former Respect MP serving libel and harassment proceedings on the company at its US headquarters. The action is believed to be the first of its kind anywhere in Europe over comments broadcast on YouTube.

The Northern Ireland victims campaigner Willie Frazer is also being sued over the allegations made at the protest at the Ulster Hall.

    The Daily Politics

BBC political editor Laura Kuenssberg says Jeremy Corbyn was "spikier" at PMQs today in challenging the PM over the Google tax deal. David Cameron was "very well prepped" for the attack, given it was almost inevitably going to be raised at the session.

She says the mistake by Chancellor George Osborne was to claim the deal was a "victory". "He's left in a slightly awkward position now," she adds.

During PMQs, the PM used the phrase "a bunch of migrants" which has attracted criticism from some Labour MPs.

One more question at PMQs to catch-up with - Lib Dem leader Tim Farron says the biggest challenge facing Europe today is the migration crisis. He repeats calls for the UK to take in 3,000 unaccompanied child refugees and migrants.

David Cameron says "no country" in Europe has been more generous than Britain in funding refugee camps. He says it is "not the right answer" for Britain to sign up to the EU's relocation scheme. Citing the government's commitment to resettle 20,000 Syrian refugees in the UK, he says EU countries combined have done less than the UK.

  16. Recap: Bedroom tax 'cruel and unjust' says Corbynpublished at 12:46 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2016

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has called on the government to abandon the spare room subsidy, describing the so-called bedroom tax as a "cruel and unjust policy".

During exchanges at Prime Minister's Questions, David Cameron said the government would "always look very carefully" at legal judgments on the issue, after the Court of Appeal ruled in favour of a victim of domestic violence and the grandparents of a disabled boy.

Mr Cameron insisted it was "unfair to subsidise in the social sector if we don't in the private sector" and he said scrapping the policy would cost £2.5bn in the next parliament.
