PM summoned to Commons Liaison Committeepublished at 16:53 British Summer Time 24 September 2019
Boris Johnson should give evidence to the House of Commons Liaison Committee within the next week, its chair writes in a letter to the prime minister.
Liberal Democrat MP Dr Sarah Wollaston writes that members of the committee - which is made up of, external the chairs of select committees - were "deeply disappointed" that he did not appear before them on 11 September as a result of the prorogation of Parliament.
The liaison committee takes evidence from the prime minister on matters of public policy several times a year.
"After prorogation was announced, your office informed us that you would reschedule the hearing 'at the earliest opportunity' when the House next met," Dr Wollaston's letter reads.
"As the House will meet from tomorrow onwards, I am writing to ask that you attend the committee within a week, before Wednesday 2nd Oct."
